Courtroom to the Classroom (C2C) is an innovative program co-sponsored by Constitutional Rights Foundation and the Los Angeles County Superior Court that brings teams of one judge and two attorneys to middle school and high school classrooms twice a year. The judge/attorney teams use PowerPoint-driven lessons with students that deal with the history of the Constitution and engage them in an application activity of the content through a moot court, using a real Supreme Court case. The judge and attorneys interact with the students to present content, help them prepare for the moot court activity, and answer questions. Program Goals:
- To educate students about our legal system and the role of the courts in our democracy
- To provide opportunities for students to interact with professionals from the legal field to inspire the students to do their best in school.
- To provide teachers with lessons that address their state-mandated history-social science standards, as well as motivate and engage students.
Our web site has numerous resources to help:
- Prepare for upcoming visit. Judge and attorney teams can access instructions as well as download presentations & handouts. Teachers should read through our instructions for teachers.
